About Alona Lesnichenko

Biography

Creating beauty from the ordinary has always been a kind of motto for my creativity. I love discovering beauty in things that may seem mundane at first glance.

The same applies to people—I find beauty in every person and strive to capture their individuality, to glimpse into their soul.

My journey as an artist began with academic classical realism. For a long time, I was passionate about achieving the highest level of realism—conveying textures, volumes, and light and shadow with precision. I took great pleasure in the painting process itself, in mastering and refining my professional skills.

But over the years, I started seeking new expressions of my creativity—my realism began to take on surrealistic forms, my compositions became more deliberate, and simple admiration of nature gained deeper meaning. I began to combine realistic, volumetric images with flat, decorative, sometimes geometric forms, experimenting with spatial illusions and shifted projections. This became a new chapter in my artistic journey, bringing me countless ideas and inspiration, helping me feel more connected to contemporary art.

The war that came to our home inevitably left its mark on me and influenced the birth of new, deeply personal and painful works. Yet, it also made me even more aware of the fleeting nature of life, the value of every moment, and the immense joy of being able to create. It sharpened my emotions and deepened my gratitude to the universe.

So, I want to share all of this with the world.
