About Agnese Kurzemniece

  • Biography

Agnese Kurzemniece lives and works in Riga, Latvia. Studied painting at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art High School, then continued to improve her knowledge and skills at the Graphics Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts and Henrik Boeg's non-toxic gravure workshop in Spain. In recent years, Agnese has actively focused on acrylic painting, continuing and further developing the themes she started in her graphic artwork, centered on the ever-changing woman and her realm. Drawing inspiration from her study and research, she delves into the theme of refuge in her paintings and focuses on the landscape as a conceptual image.

The artist has gained experience in many local and international group exhibitions. She has had several solo exhibitions, her works are included in the collections of the Rothko Museum, Ventspils, Ogre and Preiļi Museums, and also end up in private collections in many places around the world. Agnese is a member of the Latvian Artists' Union and the Latvian Graphics Chamber.

Forest, nature, landscape, as well as - the image of a woman - these are two motifs that can be found in many of Agnese paintings and are also present in this exhibition. At the center of each painting is a girl, a portrait of a woman, expressing the author's personal feelings and point of view. On the other hand, the motifs of nature - the forest, the cycles of the seasons, changing moods, light and flowers - are not only a background, but an essential image through which the painter creates emotionally saturated stories. The paintings of the exhibition prove the artist's love for nature, the forest, inviting and

What is synergy? Simply put, the result is greater than the total contribution of the parties involved. Mathematically, it could look like this: 2 + 2 = 5, of course, instead of 5 there can be another value. The result is greater than the sum of the parts. Synergy can unite and unleash the power and potential of human giants. The creative process is difficult to predict - what it will end with or where it will lead. It is also unpredictable that new challenges will be faced.
SYNERGY of our family - it is a feeling of shoulder, support and maintenance of creative spirit. Capturing the senses of life from different points of view and uniting them in one, big and common worldview, working in their respective fields of art.

    Event: The Feminine Weaknesses

    Dates: 13 May 2013 - 14 Jun 2013

Venue: art gallery Pegazs, Riga, Latvia

"People don't usually emphasize their weaknesses, but I like to smile about them. Of course, I am not unfamiliar with them. And light irony is an essential means of expression in both form and content. On the other hand, weaknesses are the activities and also the things that in most cases make us happy, improve our mood and maybe even provide inspiration. But it's not really about weaknesses, it's about Women. In art, I have always been interested in the feeling of things rather than the things themselves. The image of a woman has always been the basis of content and form - in various thematic variations and formal interpretations. It gives me endless opportunities to "play" symbols. "
