Finally I made them into a series. Spring sakura flower, summer bamboo garden, fall pumpkins and leaves, winter swan and pine motif. These hexagon panels will look good when you have multiple hanging together on the wall. Similar to hexagon shelves, you are likely to have more than one hexagon unit, especially when they are smaller size. So as you can see in my photos, when you have four of them together you start to have this Japanese sense. That is what I had planned from the beginning. Of course you can rearrange the sequence according to your preferences.
This is one of my painting experiment in Japanese Yuzen style with revised frame design. The painting is on a hexagon cradled wood panel with linen canvas surface. About 8"×9.125". 8" is from side to side. 9.125" is from corner to corner. The hexagon wood frame is 1" thick/depth, 0.75" width on all edges. The cradled wood panel is secured by L shape brass brace on the back. I also install the hanging hardware so this piece is framed and ready to hang.
The raw wood panel and raw frame are all custom order online. I finish them by myself so please expect some handmade mark.
The gold pigment on top will reflect light under different angle. You may see different colors of the gold line work under different lighting condition.
Although I try my best to match the color of digital picture as the actual product, the color may vary due to different monitor settings. Please be aware of this fact.
The idea is to have this piece like a tile on the wall.
I hope you enjoy this series. More details can be found on my website. :D
PS: I may made and paint more hexagon panels like these but definitely not the same theme/subject. Therefore they are one of kind.
Please feel free to contact me with any question.
