This expressive A4 pastel study is the second piece in my woodland series, capturing the raw energy of a reclining female figure against a wild, natural backdrop. Created with rapid, visceral strokes on dark toned paper, the piece uses electric bursts of color to bring the resting form to life.
Like the first study, I approached this piece with the same "no second takes" intensity as my oil paintings. The focus is on the immediate rhythm, light, and the heavy, atmospheric shadows of the forest floor, recorded through bold and honest mark-making.
