Original artwork description
This work began with the horizon that narrow, burning line where the sun falls into the land. I wanted it to feel like the world had held its breath for just a second too long.
Everything in the scene is quiet and frozen: the snow untouched, the roofs heavy with silence. But at the same time, there’s this streak of fire that impossible red glowing at the edge of it all. It’s a reminder that even stillness can hold intensity.
The houses are distant, but warm. Their windows pulse with soft light, like hearts tucked inside the cold. That contrast felt important to me warmth held within vastness.
The snow was painted to feel almost weightless, as if it could vanish into the sky. I didn’t want the details to anchor the scene too much this is more about feeling than realism.
