I painted this scene from a quiet café, gazing out at the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute bathed in twilight. That moment felt suspended in time—fragrant coffee on the table, the shimmer of lights dancing on the canal, and a gondola silently gliding by. I wanted to capture that peaceful romance. I used thick brushstrokes to give the painting a textured, expressive quality, blending the warm glow of the interior with the cool blues of the Venetian night. The contrast creates a dialogue between the inside and the outside. The two coffee cups symbolize an unfinished conversation—about travel, memories, or perhaps someone we’re still waiting for.
