In this painting, the window once again functions as a boundary and a site of tension — between protection and vulnerability, between the need to block and the impossibility of fully closing oneself off. The barricades built along the windowsill reference the lived experience of war and forced defense, transforming the domestic interior into an extension of the external conflict.

Yet beyond this heavy, material barrier, the sea remains visible — open, calm, and expansive. Within my ongoing window series, this gesture is essential: the window is not merely an architectural element, but a means of sustaining connection — to nature, to breath, to the horizon.

The barricades do not completely obstruct the view; they alter it. The work speaks of how, under conditions of threat and enclosure, a person continues to seek inner freedom, how hope and the impulse toward life persist through even the most solid structures of defense. This window is not an escape, but a witness — a reminder that even through barricades, the act of seeing, feeling, and being endures.
