Original artwork description:

The painting is part of a new series of works exploring wildplants found in the local landscape of Somerset around the town of Taunton. I am travelling around the region, looking for wildflowers and plants, including weeds growing on previously known industrials land, and recording them in paint and linework.

This collection of work will explore these forms of nature and how we can overlook the beautiful form of these plants and foliage. I want to highlight the beauty of these and create a series of works that record their presence, before being removed to make way for housing, or cut down at the end of season or killed by weed killer.

There is so much beauty of in these plants, something we can all see as we wander around, as they grow on old car parks, industrial land, sides of paths and hidden nooks.

Materials used:

Watercolour on watercolour board.
