I painted this piece because I needed to return to the feeling of a “real” summer—that burst of colour that lifts your mood even on an ordinary day. I wanted to paint a small, joyful field, anything but quiet, full of life—red poppies open like heartbeats and daisies that seem to gaze up at the sun.

While I was painting it, I kept thinking about the energy of wildflowers: they don’t ask for permission, they simply appear and turn any place into something bright. That’s why the brushwork is loose, with texture and movement, so the painting feels close—almost as if you could smell the warm air and hear insects moving through the leaves.

It’s a small piece, but it has a very vivid presence—perfect for bringing light and joy to a special corner.
