Wild Petals in Motion is an original contemporary abstract floral painting by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2023. Measuring 80 × 80 cm, this acrylic painting on stretched canvas combines sweeping botanical forms with expressive floral gestures in a rich palette of deep green, violet, pink, and white.

When I created this painting, I did not begin with the intention of depicting a particular flower. I was more interested in the energy of plants—the way leaves curve toward light, overlap, unfold, and seem to continue moving even when everything around them is still.

I began with broad, flowing strokes of emerald green, forest green, olive, lime, violet, plum, mauve, and magenta, allowing the shapes to cross and overlap like enlarged leaves. As the composition developed, a lighter form began to emerge naturally in the center. Instead of defining it precisely, I allowed loose strokes of white and pale pink to suggest petals opening among the darker foliage.

For me, this contrast became the heart of the painting: something delicate appearing within something powerful.

The central floral form was created with spontaneous, energetic gestures rather than carefully drawn contours. White, blush pink, soft lavender, and touches of deeper pink move across the surface in fluid strokes and splashes, creating the impression of petals caught in motion.

I worked with professional acrylic paints using broad brushes, layered brushwork, wet-on-wet passages, fluid paint, splattering, dripping, and expressive gestural techniques. Long sweeping strokes preserve the movement of my hand, while sharper marks and spontaneous splashes bring energy to the central composition.

The palette combines emerald green, forest green, dark green, olive green, lime green, violet, deep purple, plum, mauve, magenta, pink, blush pink, lavender, white, ivory, and subtle grey tones.

Although inspired by botanical forms, Wild Petals in Motion remains deliberately abstract. Depending on the viewer, the central image may suggest exotic flowers, lilies, petals moving in the wind, tropical vegetation, or simply an explosion of color and gesture.

I wanted this painting to carry the vitality of nature without becoming a traditional floral composition—to feel lush, expressive, contemporary, and alive.

The 80 × 80 cm square format gives the work a strong visual presence and allows it to function equally well as a botanical statement painting or as a piece of expressive contemporary abstraction.

This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original acrylic painting on canvas. The artwork is not signed on the front and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
