While creating this painting, I wanted to evoke a serene yet transcendent atmosphere through the use of a cold blue palette. The woman and the bird in the cage are not part of a literal narrative, but serve as metaphors for freedom and confinement. Her gaze toward the bird reflects an introspection of her own bound spirit. The textures and flowing strokes of blue bring forth a dreamlike quality, carrying both solitude and longing.
I employed layered applications of monochromatic cool tones, using both thick and thin strokes to create contrast between skin and fabric, highlighting the rhythm of light and shadow. The woman’s contours are soft and ethereal, while the deep black background accentuates her presence, imbuing the canvas with a poetic sense of mystery.
