A quiet moment in the Crimean mountains, when sunlight suddenly broke through the clouds.

I photographed this landscape in 2013 during a bicycle journey through Crimea, near the city of Alushta. After hours on the road, I stopped to take in the view as dramatic clouds covered the mountains and shafts of sunlight began to fall across the valley.

The contrast between the dark sky, distant mountains and illuminated slopes creates a fleeting, almost cinematic moment — the kind of scene that appears for only a few minutes before the light changes again.

Presented in black and white, the photograph emphasizes the atmosphere, texture and dramatic movement of light across the landscape.

A personal memory from a bicycle journey through the Crimean mountains, captured in a moment when the landscape seemed to open toward the light.

Fine art canvas print, stretched on a wooden frame — 80 × 45 cm
