I wanted to capture the brief moment when autumn has not completely disappeared, yet the first snow has already settled across the valley. The distant mountains and icy blue water bring a sense of winter coolness, while the golden, orange, and red trees still hold the last warmth of autumn. I built the landscape with cool blue-grays and whites, then energized the forest with thick, luminous strokes of warm color. Reflections on the water and snow in the foreground bring calmness to the composition, creating a quiet dialogue between the fading colors of autumn and the approaching winter.
