Original artwork description:

'What We Are' by George Hall is a celebration of exactly that - what we are.

I painted this piece as a response to all the noise and division around identity, gender, and how people choose to live and express themselves. For me, it’s not about choosing sides or fitting into boxes — it’s about recognising the full range of who we are as human beings.

Every colour in this painting stands for something - not just difference, but connection. These layers cross over each other, push through, sit beside one another. Just like we do. It’s all in there - strength, softness, certainty, doubt. The whole mix.

I wanted this painting to say: you’re allowed to be all of it. You don’t have to explain. You don’t have to justify. You just get to be.

This work is about presence. It’s about acceptance. And it’s about taking up space - with colour, with honesty, and with pride.
