Original artwork description
This painting captures a quiet interior interrupted by the distant reality of war. A young woman stands at the window, watching a burning object fall through the night sky. It is not a meteor, but the flaming wreckage of a downed Shahed drone used in Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Inside the room everything remains calm: warm yellow walls, green curtains, wooden floors, and a black cat sitting on a chair beside the window. The peaceful domestic atmosphere contrasts with the dramatic event outside, creating a powerful psychological tension between safety and danger, intimacy and uncertainty.
The viewer becomes a silent witness to this moment, sharing the same stillness and awareness as the figures in the painting. The work reflects a contemporary reality in which everyday life continues even while distant signs of war appear in the night sky.
The cinematic composition and quiet narrative invite the viewer to pause and reflect. The black cat introduces a subtle symbolic presence — instinct, silent awareness, and the intuitive sensing of change. The longer one looks, the more the scene unfolds, revealing layers of tension, vulnerability, and resilience.
Collectors are often drawn to artworks that hold a story and continue to reveal meaning over time. This painting offers exactly that: a visually calm scene charged with emotional depth and historical resonance. It is especially appealing for collectors of contemporary narrative realism and psychologically expressive figurative painting.
The artwork brings a contemplative atmosphere into any interior, transforming the space into a place where memory, imagination, and quiet reflection meet.
Dutch acrylic paints Amsterdam™ and Italian canvas by Unico were used. The surface is protected with satin varnish, and the edges are painted in the background colour. The painting is created on a pre-stretched canvas on a wooden frame and will be carefully packed in a cardboard box with protective layers.
Signed front and back, certified by the artist, with painted edges and secure packaging.
