Artwork description:

About half an hour's drive from where I live lies Weeting Castle, built by Hugh de Plais c.1180, most likely on the site of a previous house. Despite the name and its' moat surround, it was never built or used for defence, rather it was designed to display wealth and power. The de Plais family continued in residence into the fourteenth century, when the property passed by marriage to another family. They having no need of it, let it decay. For various reasons, all houses are abandoned in the end. The homes we struggle and strive for now will one day become heaps of rubble. Weeting Castle lies unattended but visitors are free to wander the grounds and pass a pleasant hour there.

The print combines two techniques: the black is printed from a relief matrix cut from rubber and the other colours are applied via stencil. It is made of high quality materials and would fit straight into a standard 11x13 frame.

Materials used:

oil-based printing inks, JPP Archival Dull White Inlay paper
