- Weeping Willow with Dove
Original artwork description
After creating the background on this, I was really struggling to see a way forward with the details of the composition but when I was out for a run in the park, I noticed the long elegant shapes of fallen leaves. Looking up, I saw the graceful descending branches of a weeping willow and I knew at once that would be right for this painting. The dove symbolises many things: peace, love, and purity whilst the light coming from the window hints at a moment of transcendence.
I used acrylic paints, inks and collage. I make my own collage papers by painting on lightweight sheets with layers of professional grade colour. After cutting out shapes with a knife, I glue the pieces onto good-quality paper using archival glue.
