Original artwork description:

The painting shows a typewriter with a white sheet of paper, where the words “We are burning” are already typed. Created during quarantine, it was originally part of the COVID-19 series, reflecting a world suddenly brought to a halt by an invisible threat. In journalism, the phrase “We are burning” means running out of time or topics. Yet today, the opposite is true — the world is overwhelmed with stories that consume us like fire.

At first, it was the virus that paralyzed the planet, froze time, and stole people’s sense of stability. Later, war came to Ukraine — and the fire turned from metaphor into harsh reality. Today, white pages burn literally: instead of words about new beginnings, we see headlines about destroyed cities, broken lives, and the endless struggle to survive.
This work speaks of fragility, of silence before words are born, and of the urgent need to write new meanings even when the world itself is burning.
Perhaps it is in the darkest of times that the words and ideas capable of saving humanity are born.
