Original artwork description:

Wat Phrathat Doi Khao Kwai Temple in Chiang Rai
100% original hand-painted one-of-a-kind watercolor artwork by Tanbelia.
'Wat Phrathat Doi Khao Kwai Temple'

Size 22 x 15 inches (56 x 38 cm).

The temple is perched high on a hill in Chiang Rai city. Its position is to allow us to see wonderful vies even on a misty day. The Temple is new and progressively improving. The interior and exterior decorations are impressive.

The main statue there is Sihuhata a stumpy, bear-like creature. This bear is four eared five-eyed god believed to be a manifestation of a deity who brings wealth and prosperity.

Sihuhata’s four ears represent the four Buddhist dharma practices of metta (loving, kindness), karuna (compassion and generosity), mudita (empathetic joy for others’ success and good fortune) and upekha (equanimity). The meaning is pretty clear: If we listen to others with these perspectives, our communication with them will be peaceful.

Sihuhata’s five eyes represent the five precepts of Buddhist dharma: to refrain from killing, stealing and lying; from indulgence in adultery and other sexual behavior that harms others; and from alcohol or other intoxicants. Again, the meaning is clear: Following the precepts helps us develop greater insight and wisdom, and to treat others with compassion.

Original watercolor painting - painted on watercolor paper (Saunders Waterford). Need a decorative frame. On the front side in the lower right corner - the author's signature. Include a certificate of authenticity.
