There is a famous, much photographed, much painted, view of Wastwater, showing the lake with Great Gable at the head of the valley. This painting takes an entirely different perspective, taking a high view from close to the summit of Yewbarrow, a simply wonderful mountain on the Wastwater shore, and looking in the opposite direction out to see. I was drawn to painting this view by the way the light is playing on the hills, and by the lovely cloudscape over the Irish Sea. It is painted in oils on a 406mm x 305mm canvas board and sold unframed.
