Artwork description
Etching miniprint of a washing line in Matera, Basilicata in southern Italy. I was drawn to the shadows cast on the ancient stone of the house. Matera is an extraordinary city where many of the houses are actually caves cut into the rock of the hillsides.
This etching is hand printed from a copper etching plate. Each print in the edition is inked and wiped and printed on my press in my studio at my home in the Surrey Hills.
