This piece was created on a hand-stretched, hand-gessoed canvas. I use layers of strong acrylic paint to achieve a rhythm and balance that is pleasing to the eye. The colors that border on one another are carefully chosen and layered in order to create a slight tension with overall harmony. I skim coat the final piece in a layer of resin and finish it with a matte layer of varnish for a look similar to encaustic wax.
The mood of this piece was inspired by the soft, soothing colors of blue and green sea glass collected along the beach. Typically my work is photography based, so painting is a freeing experience and an exercise in creating an immersive color experience.
This large painting is the perfect way to bring luxury into any home or beach house, and can be beautifully displayed on a dining room or bedroom wall or above a sofa.
