The inspiration came from discovering this extraordinary interaction between layers of paint. The upper, dark, Burgundy red (almost marching across the canvas) is dramatically severed by the lower, faded, almost flesh-toned layer, creating a raw line of division. I am fascinated by how time turns a flat wall into an object with depth and history—a scratch is a memory, and peeling paint is an act of revelation. The work also features blurred traces of letters and inscriptions, suggesting a hidden, abandoned narrative.
I aim to evoke a sense of drama and nostalgia in viewers. The composition is full of movement, resembling flowing fabric or a bleeding wound on the surface. The work encourages reflection on transience, hidden stories, and what lies beneath the external facade. The color scheme is both warm (red) and bleak (paleness), creating a strong emotional tension.
