Vision was painted as part of my 'A year in the meadow' series. Painted as a direct response to the Corona virus lockdowns.
The story behind 'Vision' is about holding on to our dreams, ambitions, desires & happiness through creating a powerful vision of the future.
The meadow was my daily escape from the daily thoughts & issues of life in these strange & confusing times. Moments spent in the meadow, in that magical golden hour just before sunset, brought grounding, peace & balance. Nature's colours, even in the simplest places is such a soothing balm to the soul.
To sit on the ground surrounded by the wildflowers, grasses & herbs of the meadow lets all tension flow away into the earth, breathing in the warm fragrance of late summer.
To be in the present & appreciate all that we have in this moment, the simple things, life itself brings so much perspective to feel good. To breathe & focus on the solid foundation of home, family, the beauty of the world around us can shift our feelings to positivity & hope.
But we can also lift our eyes to the horizon, where the light shimmers in the distance & bring clear & beautiful thoughts into our minds of we are going & the power we have to create our own destiny.
'Vision' was painted in the last days of Summer, as the Autumnal waning started to show all around. The initial sketches were created in the meadow itself & then painted onto the canvas making the most of these final warm days sitting on the terrace looking over the Devon hills.
I hope it brings you the same sense of light, possibility & a vision of a positive future that it did for me as I painted it.
