Original artwork description
This painting explores the intersection of memory and the coastal landscape. A small white structure with a crimson roof sits at the base of a towering field of pink and ochre. The lower left features gestural lines suggestive of the sea and boats, piers and weathered rigging.
The work draws on my personal history of
"Third-Identity" and displacement moving between Brazil and Canada. The composition captures the weight of industry against the ethereal, atmospheric light of the Brazilian coast.
