Another picture from the series "Where we are from"
I wanted to show the connection between us today and the ancient lineages of our land in paintings.
To show that Ukraine is not only a "cherry garden around a house", but an ancient great culture, a powerful history. And the fact that we draw our strength, kindness, and love from the source of our history.
This series of paintings with symbols, ornaments, letters of the alphabet. I continued to write it throughout the months of the war.
Viburnum is a talisman of the Ukrainian family. This beautiful tree with healing flowers and fruits was planted in every Ukrainian neighborhood. It is believed that its name comes from the Old Slavic word "circle" - that's how the Slavs called the Sun. Juicy red viburnum berries, collected in rich heavy bunches, are a symbol of a healthy and immortal family. Ukrainian women generously embroidered wedding towels, women's and men's vyshyvankas with wonderful bright red clusters of viburnum.
