This painting was inspired by the view from the balcony of Ca’ d’Oro, one of the most beautiful palaces on Venice’s Grand Canal. Rather than depicting the famous façade itself, I chose to capture the view from its balcony. Seated there is the protagonist of my painting—the traditional Venetian Lion, the symbol of Venice.

Created from my own impressions of the city, the work evokes the unique atmosphere of Venice, where history, architecture, and light merge into a poetic moment. Decorative and slightly illustrative in style, it is one of my favorite paintings.

The artwork is painted in oil on premium-quality canvas, hand-stretched over a wooden stretcher. The edges remain visible with the staples holding the canvas, emphasizing its handcrafted character. It was created over a colored imprimatura, enriching the harmony of the palette and adding depth and luminosity to the colors. The painting has a matte surface that enhances its soft, atmospheric quality.
