Vase Composition VIII’26 (2026) Original Relief by Milena Paladino
77 x 64 x 3cm (framed)
£2,253.45
Original artwork description
Vase Composition VIII’26 expands the still life series into a more layered and architectural composition, where multiple vessels coexist within a carefully balanced geometric space.
Hand-embroidered on linen using punch needle techniques, the work explores the relationship between structure and fragility through overlapping forms and restrained line work. The outlined vessels emerge softly from a field of dense directional stitching, where subtle tonal transitions create depth, rhythm, and sculptural presence.
Like earlier compositions centered on vessel objects, this piece introduces a quiet dialogue between forms. The arrangement unfolds horizontally, allowing the eye to move slowly across the composition—from the organic contours of the foreground vessel to the taller, simplified form rising behind it.
Muted shades of ivory, stone grey, and deep earthy brown reinforce the contemplative atmosphere of the work. Texture becomes the primary language of the piece: thread replaces brushstroke, while repetition and material tension create a surface that shifts gently with changing light.
Rooted in the tradition of still life yet interpreted through abstraction and textile process, this work invites a slower, more tactile experience of looking.
Each artwork is entirely handmade and one of a kind.
