As a figurative artist, I draw inspiration from Instagram. I like transforming something "of the moment" into a timeless piece of art. In the case of this portrait, the subject is a Russian model who follows me and whom I've painted several times. I selected this shot because of the dramatic light and shadow and classic nature of the portrait, which could be modern or from another era.
