Original artwork description
In this “Unlove” series, I explore the socio-cultural disintegration of love as a transcendental and reciprocal human experience, replaced in contemporary society by the ideology of instant gratification and bodily commodification.
From a sociological standpoint, the painting reflects Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of liquid love—a fragile, transitory form of intimacy characteristic of postmodern relationships. The figures are physically close yet existentially distant, immersed in a collective pursuit of pleasure, devoid of emotional anchorage.
This work evokes a metaphysical presence—perhaps a vestige of the divine or romantic ideal now obscured by materialism.
I’m against the contemporary erosion of affect. I am not moralizing, but rather documenting a cultural condition: the transformation of love from a profound, mutual bond into a consumable experience mediated by algorithmic culture and visual economies.
