Original artwork description
This painting reflects the experience of moving through difficulty while holding onto the possibility of light. Its surface is shaped by layered, turbulent movement that recalls a sea in transformation — waves folding into one another beneath a dark, expansive sky. The motion feels both heavy and restrained, capturing a moment when energy gathers inward rather than breaking outward.
Built through successive layers of texture and deep tonal shifts, the work allows light to emerge gradually from within the darkness. Pale highlights surface across the composition like quiet markers of persistence — not sudden revelations, but signs of resolve forming over time. They move through the painting the way determination moves through us in uncertain moments: slowly, unevenly, yet with intention.
For me, this piece is not about the drama of the storm, but about remaining present inside it. It speaks to resilience shaped through pressure, to the tension between weight and movement, and to the act of continuing forward before clarity appears. The light here is something we make space for — step by step — until it begins to take hold.
