It can sometimes take me ages to finally get around to doing a painting of something I penciled into a sketchbook, while at a particular spot that moved me. Well, this painting comes about in just that way. I was flipping through stacks of sketchbooks looking for something specific ( which I never found) And came across a sketch I did last summer, In a Villefranche Sur Mer; a favorite town of mine on the Riviera, just next door to Nice. The sketch was very rough, but I had done several others and had taken photos, as if I don’t have Villefranche a memorized after all these years. Anyway, This painting was the result. Villefranche is filled with Village Houses covered at the entrances with Pots of flowers ! It really is like a place out of a Dream. This canvas is painted around the edges so it can be hung, unframed...
