Original artwork description
It was high time for me to get back to doing a happy, busy, colorful, detailed French Street Scene! I realized in recent weeks, going back over my works, that depicting a little row of French shops Is something I have been missing! This scene is inspired by row of my favorite towns in Provence ( More specifically, the Luberon); Isle Sur la Sorgue, and St Remy. Both are filled with Charm galore; as if out of a storybook, or postcard. The Shop on the left side of the painting, really does exist in Collioure, France; on the Mediterranean, near the Spanish Border, in the Languedoc region of France. I cherished living in a Collioure, and became quite good friends with the couple that owned the Espadrille Shop, “La Maison de Prosper”. It was so unlike a French person to name a shop with a name so positive; almost like a declaration! ( I happen to believe That the shop thrives still today, because they named it so!) This canvas is painted So that the image wraps around the edges, so it can be hung, unframed.
