Silhouettes of swimmers viewed from under the sea, with reflection of the ripples on the bottom of the sea surface.
I was thinking about warm mediterranean sandy-bottomed seas, sunlit, bright and ripples forming incredible patterns below the surface.
I wanted to translate those patterns I had photographed of the sea in Broadhaven, into to something deeper, and change the colours, and then imagine the people almost as Selkies, in their capability to swim and then change into human form on land. The water continues to confuse and abstract the light and shapes.
Materials used:
White, Satin Somerset 250 gsm paper with oil-based etching inks
