I created this painting in the first days of the war, while hearing the constant sounds of explosions near my home in the Kyiv region. In those moments of intense tension, I felt a strange, powerful connection to my ancestors. It was an awareness of an ancient force that protects Ukraine—a feeling of unity with every symbol our people have cherished for centuries.
The Rushnyk (Ukrainian national towel) has always been our most sacred talisman. It was believed to guard the home against evil and protect from enemies. In my "Conversations of Objects" series, I wanted to bring this protective energy to the canvas. Every ornament here is a prayer for safety and a symbol of our identity that no one can take away. This painting brings a profound sense of strength, resilience, and spiritual guardianship to any space it inhabits.
