Painting of Ty Cobb, often referred to as "The Georgia Peach," was born on Dec 18, 1886, in Narrows, GA. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, known for his fierce competitiveness and exceptional skills on the field. Cobb played 24 seasons in Major League Baseball , primarily with the Detroit Tigers, where he became a legendary figure.

Cobb's life was marked by personal tragedy; his mother shot & killed his father when he was a teenager. This event deeply affected him & influenced his intense playing style. Despite his on-field success, Cobb's personality was often contentious. He was known for his aggressive play and had a reputation for being difficult to get along with, which sometimes overshadowed his achievements.

In his later years, Cobb became a philanthropist, establishing a scholarship fund for Georgia students & contributing to healthcare facilities. He passed away on July 17, 1961, in Atlanta, GA.
