I was fascinated by the vintage illustrations by Japanese artist Watanabe Seitei. I painted a fairly accurate copy of the illustration of these two sparrows from the 1891 book Birds and Flowers. _x000D_
Watanabe Seitei is Meiji painter, print artist and book illustrator famous for his naturalistic pictures of fauna and flora in the Nihonga style.
