Two Shadows, One Breath (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Emmanuel Akolo

60.96 x 76.2cm (unframed) / 60.96 x 76.2cm (actual image size)

£899.45

I made Two Shadows, One Breath to show how it feels to be very close to another person. In this painting, I used solid black shapes to show two people hugging. I did not paint their faces because I want anyone who looks at it to imagine themselves in that hug. They are standing against a bright blue background that looks like the sky or the ocean.

The black paint is thick and rough, which makes the connection between the two people feel strong and real. I chose this deep blue color to create a feeling of peace and calm. This work is about love and the quiet moments we share with the people who matter most to us. It shows that even when life is busy, we can find a safe place in someone else's arms.
