Auvergne landscape, France.

From my window, I contemplate the familiar silhouette of Mont Mézenc, a constant call to leave the studio for the trail. Season after season, I return to its heights to confront its immensity and feel its ruggedness under my feet.

In this painting, I sought to capture the precise moment when the very last rays of sun set ablaze this world of cold and silence, casting upon the snow the fleeting beauty of a raking light with hues of pink and mauve. A sublime grace, on the verge of vanishing to give way to the night.

The white finish on the sides of the canvas allows it to be hung without a frame, should you wish.

Materials used:

This painting is painted with professional grade oil colors on a primed canvas. I prepare myself my canvases to create a texture specific to my painting needs and to insure them maximum longevity.
