I wanted to capture the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of a canal city as twilight settles in. Historic buildings, an arched bridge, glowing street lamps, and a carriage by the water come together through reflections to create a quiet scene filled with a sense of story. I built the evening mood with deep violets, charcoal grays, and warm earth reds, using golden-orange lights as focal accents. Rather than describing every architectural detail, I used loose, simplified brushwork, reflected color, and silhouetted figures to create rhythm and depth, balancing representation with an expressive and romantic sense of atmosphere.
