The Art of Happiness is my reminder that joy is something to cherish, cultivate and surround ourselves with. I painted this piece with bold, confident colour and sweeping movement because I wanted it to feel abundant, unapologetic and alive.
The deep blues create a rich stage for the vibrant tulips, irises and lilies to rise forward, while splashes of paint bring spontaneity and energy. I love allowing controlled brushwork to sit alongside expressive drips and thrown marks so the arrangement feels as though it is still unfolding. Nothing is stiff or restrained. It is full, generous and overflowing.
For me, this painting is about embracing colour, embracing brightness and allowing happiness to take up space. It brings warmth, vitality and a sense of celebration into a room, while still holding a painterly elegance that makes it feel timeless rather than fleeting.
