Original artwork description
This painting was an intuitive anticipation of a family trip to a tropical island, Cozumel, Mexico. I had never been to a coral reef and snorkled underwater and I was ready for breathtaking color intensity. I spent the entire week underwater haha and got terrible swimmers ear! The 'X' through the painting was a product of my habit of x-ing out paintings after working on them so that I wouldn't feel too precious about them when I returned to the studio to paint again- always a fresh start. Just so happens that this one time I was shocked later to find out the the 'x' was perfect and deeply resonated with me- there is no paradise, you can't go home again! This painting was exhibited at the Dolby Chadwick gallery in San Francisco.
