In this painting, I placed the entire focus on the leaves, each with its own inner, intricate pattern. The leaves were hand-crocheted by me from cotton thread and then painted with acrylics. This artwork is about the beauty of tropical plants and our inseparable connection with nature through every branch and every leaf we can pause to admire.

Jungle is a series that explores the different moods and impressions of the tropical world. It captures both the joyful burst of colors found in tropical plants, and the calm, refreshing sense of peace that exists in the cool quiet of an exotic garden.

▶ ART PAINTING TECHNIQUE
My artworks are characterized by a distinctive organic texture and layered surface.
I work in a unique oil-on-water paper technique, where fluid oil-based pigments are guided across the surface of water and then carefully transferred onto fine art paper. Each sheet is created individually, which makes every pattern completely non-repeatable and naturally formed.
These organically textured papers become the foundation of my mixed-media compositions. I use them as a base layer and further develop the artwork through collage and painting.
Details and final expressive elements are painted by hand with acrylics, allowing me to combine spontaneous natural patterns with controlled artistic refinement.

▶HANDMADE LACE AS AN ARTISTIC ELEMENT
In this artwork, I use handmade lace that I crochet myself from cotton threads. For each painting, I carefully select and create a lace motif that resonates with the composition and mood of the piece.
To prepare the lace for collage and mixed-media use, I straighten it while wet, fix it to a solid surface, and then delicately paint it with acrylics. This process allows the lace to hold its shape while preserving the texture of the threads, making it an integral part of the artwork.

This artwork fits standard square frames sized 35 × 35 cm (13.8 × 13.8 in) with an inner mount opening of 24 × 24 cm (9.4 × 9.4 in).
Depending on your interior goals and the final look you would like to achieve, the mat size can be adjusted: you may choose a wider or a narrower mount to visually increase or decrease the overall framed dimensions. You can also select a custom frame that perfectly suits your space.

▶ ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mariia Raskin (b. 1979, Kazakhstan) is an abstract-impressionist painter based in Turkey and Northern Cyprus. She holds a degree with distinction in Applied Arts. Her works belong to the permanent collection of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art, and she has held several solo exhibitions in Cyprus, including one opened by the Prime Minister.
A member of the International Association of Art (IAA) and the Eurasian Art Union (EAU), Mariia is a two-time recipient of the Certificate of Artistic Achievement from the Luxembourg Art Prize and winner of the Boynes Monthly Art Award. Her artworks have been exhibited internationally and featured in well-known art publications and platforms. On Artfinder, Mariia exclusively presents her works on paper.
