I painted this piece inspired by a quiet autumn day spent near the water. The wind barely stirred the leaves, yet within that stillness, I felt life, movement, the breath of nature. I wanted to convey not a precise depiction of the landscape, but its mood — the inner music of the moment.
The trees in the foreground stand like old witnesses of time. Their trunks — twisted, strong, at times dark — symbolize resilience and character. Their crowns are filled with the warmth of the departing summer and the first flickers of autumn. I deliberately used bold, sometimes even sharp colors to emphasize the contrast between the calmness of the river and the emotional pulse of the land and trees.
The river, light and cool, marks the boundary between reality and dream. Its flow seems almost imperceptible, yet the sky reflects in it — just as our thoughts and feelings reflect on the surface of quiet.
In this work, I tried to connect nature with the human inner world — with what one feels when standing alone on the shore, gazing into the distance, in silence. I hope that everyone who looks at this painting will find something personal in it — perhaps peace, perhaps longing, or maybe inspiration.
This artwork is made by traditional technology. Oil paints, canvas and linseed oil. I love to write etudes from life in a bright impressionistic manner. Small colorful strokes form a rainbow palette. I will try to convey the movement of air masses and the difference between illuminated and shady places.
Linseed oil on canvas.
