Original artwork description
56cm x 56cm x 3cm Original abstract painting
This work is a hybrid of painting and relief sculpture, created from 36 wooden circles arranged in grid formation on a wooden panel which has then been painted with acrylics and varnished.
With this work I wanted to create a field of pure colour, built up in layers of varying tonal intensity with subtle gradations giving way to warm accents of orange. I was interested in exploring ideas of permutation and sequence in this piece and the relationship between individual elements within a series. The painting is strongly influenced by 20th century abstraction.
I am really interested in achieving an emotional and atmospheric resonance through pure abstraction and colour alone.
Materials used:
wooden panel, wooden circles, acrylic paint, varnish

- Size: 56 x 56 x 2cm (framed)
