This oil painting was completed in one single, continuous session on linen using the alla prima method. The composition features a row of coastal or riverside buildings flanking an arched stone bridge, with their forms mirrored in the moving water below.
The natural weave of the linen supports a rich layer of paint, where deep blues, cool grays, and warm ochres are layered quickly to capture a fleeting sense of light and shadow. It was nice sunny day in March.
