This stunning view is of Rhossili Bay, in Gower Peninsula, Wales, constantly voted one of the most beautiful in the UK and Europe. The house in the distance is a former rectory, now luxury holiday home. I loved this painting because of the colours mainly.
Rhosilli Bay is famous for the rusty, red-brown colour of the burnt-crisp heather on the hills sliding down to the beach but in this image the hills were a deep brilliant blue for a change.
It was this novelty in the colouring that attracted my attention and made me wanted to paint this view.
