'To Whom I Leave the Sceptre and the Isle' is an oil painting from a current group of works called 'Summer Series', inspired by my archive of family photographs.

For this scene of a father and son making sandcastles, I wanted to use the pastel colours of seaside nostalgia and a hazy warm atmosphere to give the painting a dream like quality.

Through layers and expressive brushwork the painting reflects sunny childhood summers through memory and reflection.

It is framed in a complimentary painted white wood frame.
