- Timeless Serenity
Artwork description
Angkor is an amazing place. Deep within Cambodia's lush jungle the ancient ruins have over centuries become one with it. And within it's huge expanse Bayon is particularly timeless and fascinating - dozens of ancient faces, carved in stone, serene mesmerizing expressions on their faces gaze, smiling through hundreds of years. Time has been overcome here - timelessness is the nature of this space.
I've spent ages there during my stay in Asia, brought a lot of reference material and made it a point to evoke some of that feeling in my work - here translated into an intricate woodblock print.
The print is hand registered - using a traditional Japanese bamboo barren - onto fine Japanese Hosho paper. Edition of 30 signed and numbered underneath the image.
The print will also feature at this year's prestigious Grenchen xylographic triennale in Switzerland - and one copy stays in Kunstgeselshaft Grenchen remarkable collection.
Materials used:
Charbonell inks on Japanese Hosho paper
Details:
- Woodcut on Paper
- From a limited edition of 30
- Size: 17 x 22 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 11 x 15cm (actual image size)
- Signed and numbered on the front
- Style: Photorealistic
- Subject: Architecture and cityscapes
