While painting this piece, I wanted to capture the silent yet profound conversation between a viewer and a work of art. The strong contrast of light and shadow emphasizes the cold solidity of the marble sculpture against the warmth of the human figure. I used refined strokes to shape the sculpture’s volume and texture, while applying looser strokes on the viewer to make “the act of looking” the core subject. My aim was to portray not just a sculpture, but the moment of encounter between person and art.
